Controlled substances don’t move through the world in isolation. They move through a global supply chain that regulation, geopolitics and technology are reshaping faster than ever. Staying compliant today means seeing the whole picture: from R&D and manufacturing through shipping and logistics to final delivery.
Last year’s inaugural conference at Novartis, Switzerland, brought together a highly specialized group of experts over two days, including representatives from regulatory authorities such as the International Narcotics Control Board, European Union Drugs Agency, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Swissmedic, alongside professionals from pharmaceutical companies, academia and technology providers across Europe, the USA, Japan and India. Building on that momentum, the Pistoia Alliance CSCS Community is proud to present its 2nd European Controlled Substance Compliance & Shipping Conference on 29–30 September 2026 in Cork, Ireland, hosted by Johnson & Johnson.
What’s new this year?
Rather than treating compliance and shipping as separate tracks, the 2026 program deliberately brings them together into a single, global, end-to-end conversation because that is how the work actually happens. Alongside today’s requirements, we look ahead: how to plan resources and use technology for a landscape that keeps changing.
The conference addresses a critical gap in the industry: there is nowhere else that controlled-substance compliance, trade, shipping, logistics, R&D and supply-chain security professionals sit in the same room. It brings global perspectives together and provides a unique platform for direct, industry-to-industry dialogue with benchmarking real practice rather than trading presentations.
Key topics will include:
- Global supply chain perspectives
- Compliance frameworks and inspections
- Import and export requirements
- Navigating regulatory uncertainties
- Compound screening and R&D activities
- Shipment of dangerous goods
- Classification challenges
- Regulatory surveillance
- The growing role of technology and automation
Who should attend?
This conference is for anyone whose work touches a controlled substance as it moves through the global supply chain, including:
- Controlled-substance compliance and trade-compliance professionals
- Supply-chain, logistics and distribution leaders
- Shipping, dangerous-goods and import/export specialists
- Third-party logistics (3PL/4PL), contract manufacturing and distribution partners
- Supply-chain security, intelligence and risk teams
- R&D, hit-discovery and chemical-management professionals
- Technology and automation providers serving the sector
Whether you manage compliance, move the goods, or build the tools that support both, if it touches a molecule a government cares about, this is for you.
