Members of the Pistoia Alliance User Experience for Life Sciences (UXLS) and FAIR Implementation project teams have produced a set of nine heuristics to help user experience designers and other life science professionals involved in data-driven projects to:
- Apply good design practices and consider UX at every stage of critical elements of the design and data lifecycle
- Embed known data standards including the FAIR principles
- Make it easier for scientists to harness data for future use
The nine heuristics help ensure greater awareness of the FAIR principles amongst UX designers and highlight the common pitfalls to avoid when designing for data-driven projects. Each heuristic is accompanied by an explanation of why UX is important, as well as example use cases and ideas for implementation.
