WHAT IS FAIR DATA WORTH TO YOUR ORGANIZATION?
The business case for FAIR data
Version 1.0 of the FAIR Business Value Framework is out, and open to everyone. Our FAIR Community of Experts spent more than two years building the framework, breaking down the value of FAIR data into 38 value drivers across trust, speed, cost, and effectiveness, to help you measure the return on FAIR data practices. Pistoia Alliance members can also use a calculator.

A NEW IDEA FOR HELM
Shape the next chapter of HELM
HELM is a widely adopted notation for complex biomolecules. As its use has spread, challenges have emerged, from ambiguities in the specification to representing glycans and bioconjugates. A new idea proposes a community-driven update. If your work relies on HELM, help shape what comes next.

VERSION 1.1 OF THE CMC PROCESS ONTOLOGY
A more consistent shared language for pharma manufacturing
Version 1.1.0 of the CMC Process Ontology is now available to Pistoia Alliance members. This release focuses on quality: validation work, stakeholder feedback and issues raised on GitHub have made the ontology more consistent, more interoperable and easier to maintain. Metadata and annotations are standardized. Terminology and definitions are refined, and identifiers and imports corrected. The ontology is also aligned with releases of external ontologies, and imported terms carry more detail on provenance.

WHAT ROLE SHOULD AI PLAY?
Designing AI's role, not just explaining its decisions
AI is quietly appearing across enterprise tools, framed as a helpful colleague. But do we really know what it's there to do? In the first article of a UXLS series on AI, Stijn Janssen (Novo Nordisk) argues the harder challenge isn't explaining how AI decides, but designing the role it plays. And he proposes how to think about it. Don't miss it!
